Artur Kivilaht

Portrait of Artur Kivilaht

My sound as a composer grows out of a lifelong relationship with the guitar, shaped by a background in jazz, traditional music, pop, and the study of twentieth-century classical music. I use dissonance, texture, and repetition as compositional tools, building music from the physical and sonic possibilities of the guitar, amplifier, and pedals. My writing is informed by years of experience as a working professional and session musician.

This site is a landing page for an ongoing body of work inspired by minimalist and electroacoustic music, created with a focus on process, experimentation, and sound for its own sake.

I trained in music composition and performance at the University of Manitoba, later studying composition at Humber College and completing the Screen Composers Guild of Canada mentorship program.

My performance highlights include touring with the Broadway musical “Chicago” and performing as a guitarist with Princess Cruises throughout the Americas.
